Folsom is a quickly growing city, close to California's capitol, that offers an ever-changing landscape of fun activities, shops, restaurants, and events. Although the city is busy, safe bike trails run throughout protected nature areas. The fine weather means there's always time for a swim at the lake, aquatic center, or river. Child-centered activities for the holidays are always happening at the Folsom Public Library and Folsom Zoo, like holiday singers, story time, and Santa visiting the zoo animals. Look into our online directory for Folsom and find a camp that will keep your child entertained for hours.

The Folsom Zoo is quite small, but it's worth a couple hours to stroll and see the animals, like bears, snakes, raccoons, skunks, and cougars. This is more a sanctuary than a zoo and its mission is to educate patrons, protect abused or orphaned animals, and most importantly, to teach responsible behavior towards animals. All the animals have names and are not for breeding or selling. On the grounds, there is also Fisher's Beastro, with Carnivore Cheeseburgers and Pig Out Popcorn that will definitely put a smile on the kids face after a long day of viewing animals. Good news for parents: Children under two are free everyday!

Busy Kids, an interactive museum, known as a little town for little people, is patterned after Old Town Folsom. Kids can play, "work", and pretend throughout this "city" and be like the adults that they admire. Meanwhile, the parents can enjoy free Wi-Fi and grab a coffee and a book at the cafe. The spaces for the kids include a music room, classroom, library, post office, construction room, park, and art studio. Perhaps, this is where your child will discover their one true calling. During the month, there are also classes like Family Yoga, Story and Craft Time, and Mommy and Me Music Class.

Folsom Lake, located near the Sierra Foothills, is a relaxing area to hike, fish, swim, or go for a bike or horseback ride. The bike path is 32 miles long and connects all the way to Old Sacramento. Kids might also enjoy going downstream to Lake Natoma for kayaking and sailing. They also will enjoy being on the lookout for black-tailed deer, ground squirrels, and Indian paintbrush. Check out Folsom Powerhouse, which used to provide electricity to all of Sacramento or stay overnight at a campground, for a fully immersed experience of Folsom.
