Although Pigeon Point Lighthouse is currently being restored and is closed to the public, the grounds around the lighthouse are just as inviting for kids. Visit every Thursday through Monday in April from 10am to 4pm to catch a glimpse of female gray whales with their young near the coast. Discover seals, otters, and other sea creatures along the rocky shore as well. Gather the family for a guided tour around the lighthouse and learn how the structure helped keep sailing mariners safe some time ago. Cap the day off with a trip to the adjacent swimming beach, where you and the kids can frolic in the waves or bask in the sun and build sandcastles.
