The name speaks for itself. Thousand Oaks is a city full of nature activities for kids, with over 15,000 acres of open space for the family to explore. This includes 75 miles of family-friendly hiking trails, where you can also ride bikes or just take a relaxing stroll. Spend a day wandering through Conejo Valley Botanical Gardens and take advantage of that California sunshine. This 33 acre area has manicured gardens, trails along a stream, and of course, flowers galore. Kid's Adventure Garden is set-up for children to learn about nature while surrounded by it. There's a tree house, animal sculptures in the zoo garden, and events to teach them about gardening. Luckily, it's open every day (except holidays) and it’s free! Let your kids rest after camp at the Hillcrest Open Space Preserve. Children can learn about Native American culture by talking to the park ranger and the trails have great views of surrounding Thousand Oaks.

To be or not to be, that is the question at Kingsmen Shakespeare Company's Camp Shakespeare. Created for students ages 8-16, this camp aims to focus on teamwork, fun, and strengthening aspiring, young thespian's skills. Drama gameshelp students to connect with others and have fun. Choices for students include a new puppet workshop that teaches how to build your own marionette to be used in Shakespeare scenes. There is also an advanced class for practicing stage combat, text analysis, and Shakespearean vocabulary. Students say they make many new friends at the camps and were truly inspired.
