If you’re a teenager looking to master the Italian language, view the world’s most famous art from the Renaissance or indulge in exquisite cuisine, (especially the gelato) then embark on an adventure to Italy and you won’t be disappointed.

Your first stop should be Venice, called the “City of the Grand Canals.” Hop on the Vaporetto for the most thorough view of the canals. The maze of water “paths” are made up of 100 islands connected by 150 canals and 400 bridges. Next, you should simply “get lost”, put down the map, and wander between buildings and walk down the narrow streets, it is here where you’ll see Venice “behind the scenes.” To avoid the swarm of people, head to Saint Mark’s Square during the early morning or late afternoon when all the day tourists have left. Although you may need some light if you want that selfie with the pigeons. Across the way, walk on over to the St. Mark’s Basilica, Doges Palace and Torre dell’Orologio. Before you leave the square, take the elevator to the top of the Campanile for the best bird’s eye view of the square and beyond. To complete your time in Venice, you should island hop to Murano, Burano or Torcello if you’d like an escape from the tourists.

In Florence, the artworks of Michaelangelo, Boticello, Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, Marconi and Dante will be waiting for you. You almost need a cheat sheet for all the artists you are going to see! If you head to the Santa Croce, you will see what the Westminster Abbey of Italy is because inside lays the tombs of some of Italy’s most famous artists. Did you bring your most comfortable sneakers? Good, you are going to need them for the hike up to the Piazzale Michelangelo, which is worth the extra energy. You’ll be rewarded by a spectacular of the city and the Arno River. The Santa Maria del Fiore is the main dome that is easily recognizable throughout the city. You’ll get to see 600 years’ worth of architecture and art work; don’t expect to be able to see it all! It is very mesmerizing to look up and see the brilliant talent of these artists. In the Boboli Gardens, you’ll find various statues and fountains, a fine display of Italian landscape.

Last but not least, Rome is the King of the Country with a plethora of ancient history and culture that you’ll find it difficult to truly see and absorb everything. With the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Square, the Pantheon, the Forum, Coliseum and dinners in the Piazza Navona, you will be in heaven. The Utifize Gallery and the Academia are deserving of room on your itinerary, as well. Don’t forget to make a wish and thrown a coin the Trevi Fountain.
