Experience the beauty and wonder of New England in Portland, where there is an abundance of activities year round. Peek at native animals at the Maine Wildlife Park, get inspired by the exhibits at the Portland Museum of Art, and ride one of the many roller coasters at Palace Playground.
Spot bald eagles, mountain lions, and porcupines at Maine Wildlife Park, a home to creatures that need protection and healing. Bring some quarters for the kids so they can feed animals like bears, deer, and birds. The visitor center has antlers and pelts that kids can touch and there are various wilderness trails and gardens to explore. Take advantage of the picnic area by bringing your own food for a fun way to end the day.
Grow together in imagination and creativity at the Portland Museum of Art, which features the PMA Family Space, a room specifically for playing and exploring with art. Pop Up Studios occur every month and kids can have the chance to make their own art and get helpful suggestions and encouragement from PMA staff. Kids under 12 receive free admission.
Choose from tons of rides that will get everyone's hearts pumping at Palace Playland. This beachside amusement park is full of adventure for the whole family, like carousels and a dumbo ride for the youngest kiddies and a drop zone and tilt-a-whirl for the older ones. Thrill seekers can go on Adrenalin, a swinging pendulum with an arc of 120 degrees. Head to the arcade or walk along the beach if you'd rather keep your feet on the ground.
