Garden City has been around since the 1800s and is now one of the nicest residential communities in the country. The streets are tree-lined and in spring, over 30,000 flower bulbs are planted, keeping the city colorful. Explore the world of fairy tales at Long Island Children's Museum, where kids can step into favorite once upon a time stories from around the world. The interactive theater also puts on performances like Twinkle, Twinkle, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and bands like Recess Monkey. Kids will test their minds over the bubble exhibit, where they can step inside a bubble and blow a bubble within a bubble. At Communication Station, kids can report the news and in Pattern Studio, they can design a house! Early childhood programs are also offered and focus on kids and movement, cooking, and music.
Inspire a young scientist at the Center for Science Teaching and Learning that has summer camps for kids ages 4-15. These "just for kids" programs are led by qualified science instructors and educators, who will guide the students in hands-on experiments, science demonstrations, and exploring the center's 17 acres of woods. The School's Out! Camps, during school breaks, include visiting live animals, taking part in science shows, playing with liquid nitrogen, and hiking. A Tiny Tots program is held Mondays and Thursdays and has new themes each week, like finger painting and story time.
