Vermont is filled with small towns of historical Colonial homes, of course that New England charm. With scrumptious food, remarkable and lush countryside, and unique attractions for all ages, Vermont is the perfect family destination.

Indulge your sweet tooth. Vermont is the top producer of maple syrup in the United States, so be sure to check out the End-O-Road Maple in Jericho. Kids will learn about the maple syrup process, sugaring, view the equipment, and, of course, try some samples. This traditional sugarhouse sells culinary delights like maple cream and maple candy that will give you a delicious taste of Vermont. Vermont is also the King of Cider. Visit the Cold Hollow Cider Mill for a fresh squeeze of apple cider, and even pick up some of their famous cider jelly. If you want an inside look, take advantage of a free self-guided tour that demonstrates the cider making process.

Bask in the beauty of the great outdoors. The Trapp Family Lodge and Resort in Stowe is like a natural backyard, with swimming, fishing, rock climbing, hiking, and even art classes. Don’t miss Smuggler’s Notch, a thousand foot cliff with boulders the size of homes that shows evidence of 19th century smugglers bringing goods back and forth to Canadian trade markets. Kids will burn off energy exploring the awesome caves and climbing up the epic boulders on the hiking trails in the warmer months. In the winter, this spot offers ideal conditions for skiing and snowboarding.

All Aboard! Don’t forget to take a ride on a train for a scenic view of this beautiful state. If you have a budding engineer, they’ll love rushing along the rails of Vermont’s Green Mountain Railroad. For another unique experience, check out the famous Vermont Teddy Bear Factory. After a 30 minute tour you’ll be in love with every single one. Children can see the daily process of bear sewing, stuffing, cutting, and attaching clothes or other accessories, getting a special behind the scenes look at their favorite fuzzy friend.
