Mercer Island, a neighbor of Seattle, is a city that is on an island by the same name. Obviously, there are a lot of waterfront parks and places to go swimming or watch the sun go down over the water. One great park is Luther Burbank Park, which has 0.75 miles of waterfront, a swimming beach, a fishing pier, and barbecue and picnic areas. Mercer Island's Community and Event Center is always putting on something for the family and has a dance room, fitness room, children's play area, library, a game room, and free Wi-Fi. Look through our online directory and find a summer camp that will show your child all that Mercer Island has to offer.

Get in the zone with Children's Fun Zone, in Mercerdale Park during the summer. Kids will be grinning ear to ear when they see inflatable rides, a Ferris wheel, pirate themed obstacle courses, a palm tree bounce house, and a Hawaiian paradise play zone. Who knew you could find the tropics in Washington? Another fun part of the celebration is a Kids Ride, for ages 3-13, where they can ride bikes down a safe 2 mile loop, as many times as they want to.

Your kids can be the star of the show at Youth Theater Northwest! Drama enthusiasts can sign up for student cabaret, acting classes, or buy tickets to see a show, like A Little Grimm, which gives a fresh, comedic approach to the old tales. Winter classes are diverse and include Alphabet Soup (for ages 3-5), Story and Song: Suessical (for Grades K-2), Comedy Improv (for Grades 3-5), and Scene Study: Star Wars and Shakespeare (for Grades 6+). Classes are once or twice a week. With YTN putting on ten shows a year, there's always going to be something that the whole family can go see.

Enjoy a day of play and learning at Kids Co., who host before school, after school, and summer camp programs for ages 5-12 years old. The before school curriculum offers family-style breakfast, free time to read or play games, or playing outside supervised. In the after school program, kids eat healthy snacks and take part in interesting group activities based in science, cooking, drama, or art. There's also a homework club throughout the week to help kids that are struggling or those who just need to finish their assignments. The summer day camps are all about imagination and themes run from pirates to wizards.
