Situated on 700 pristine acres in the San Jacinto Mountains, Camp Scherman is an all-girl (for ages 6-18) sleep-over camp that offers safe surroundings where girls of all backgrounds and abilities can safely test their limits and develop an “I can do this!” attitude.
Recognized as one of the finest youth camps in southern California, the camp’s nurturing and healthy environment is a place where girls break away from their summer routine and venture into new experiences that help them grow and become more independent and responsible. On the first day of camp, girls together plan some of their fun activities including archery, canoeing, hiking, outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, backpacking, swimming and rockclimbing.
The camp has two lakes for boating and a pool used for swimming and other water activities. Safety for the girls has always been a priority in the more than 40 years that the Girl Scout Council of Orange County has owned and operated Camp Scherman. The camp offers a high staff to camper ratio of 1 – 5.
Camp Scherman is fully accredited by the American Camp Association (acacamps.org). In 2008 and 2010, Parenting OC named Camp Scherman as the “Best Overnight Camp.”
What Parents Say About Camp Scherman
I would like to thank you for your incredible staff. They truly went above and beyond what might be expected. Not only did they relate well to our girls, they were also congenial, respectful and incredibly helpful. These wonderful young women are a perfect blend of professionalism and fun. I was thrilled that my daughter had such great Girl Scout models to look up to.
My daughters have been to Camp Scherman for 13 years, and it’s always an awesome experience.
