Folsom is a quickly growing city, close to California's capitol, that offers an ever-changing landscape of fun activities, shops, restaurants, and events. Although the city is busy, safe bike trails run throughout protected nature areas. The fine weather means there's always time for a swim at the lake, aquatic center, or river. Child-centered activities for the holidays are always happening at the Folsom Public Library and Folsom Zoo, like holiday singers, story time, and Santa visiting the zoo animals. The Folsom Zoo is quite small, but it's worth a couple hours to stroll and see the animals, like bears, snakes, raccoons, skunks, and cougars. This is more a sanctuary than a zoo and its mission is to educate patrons, protect abused or orphaned animals, and most importantly, to teach responsible behavior towards animals. All the animals have names and are not for breeding or selling. On the grounds, there is also Fisher's Beastro, with Carnivore Cheeseburgers and Pig Out Popcorn that will definitely put a smile on the kids face after a long day of viewing animals.
