Oregon hosts a stunning background for family fun, where you can revel in everything from rainforests to volcanic craters to rocky coastlines. Explore the outdoors at a National Park, discover science and maritime history in Astoria, or surf the sand at one of Oregon's beaches.

Uncover the stunning beauty of Crater Lake National Park, where one of the deepest lakes in the world hosts an infinite number of activities your kids will love. Load up the bike rack on the car and soar downhill on two wheels, or snowshoe and hike the trails come winter. Catch sight of a beautiful waterfall at Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area in Portland and view the gorgeous canyon vistas, or search for wildlife and rare birds at Smith Rock State Park. With all the breathtaking scenery the Pacific Northwest has to offer, it won't be difficult to connect your kids to Mother Nature.

Dive into the past in Astoria, where the Colombia River Maritime Museum offers top-ranking exhibits of exotic islands and a look at perilous ocean passes. Cultivate the inner marine biologist in your kids as they plant flora found in the Galapagos, or encourage their creative side with the baby dancing classes. They'll likely enjoy the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland as well, where infrared cameras and hands-on lab experience will have them fascinated with science in no time. The Portland Children's Museum also offers boatloads of fun, as children manipulate water-powered machinery, shop for groceries, or work on their next sculpting project.

Sweep down the dunes at Sand Master Park in Florence, where 40 acres of privately owned land translate into a whole lot of family fun. Children of all ages will love soaring down the hills of sand on rented boards. Play in the largest sandbox in Oregon to sculpt a state-of-the-art castle, or walk to the nearby beach for a refreshing swim. The artistically inclined will love learning how to do glass blowing and make sand art. If your kids still can't get enough of the beach, take them to Yachats coastline, where tidal pools and the potential to add to their seashell collection will be sure to delight. Cannon beach, with its picturesque stark rocks and sandy beaches, is also a family favorite.
